Aarokiyam
What is “Aarokiyam”?
“Aarokiyam” (meaning “Good Health” in Tamil) is one of the capstone projects here at Nourishment for Needy. This project concentrates on the development of awareness of the importance of good health predominantly among the rural and the underprivileged community of Tamil Nadu.
More than 7 million deaths in India are attributed to non-communicable diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, which require early detection and intervention as per reports from National Health Profile, 2019. The Aarokiyam Project is focused on eradicating this issue by addressing this problem from multiple fronts such as educating, spreading awareness, providing free medication, consultation etc.
Aarokiyam’s contribution to
PUBLIC HEALTH & COMMUNITY HEALTH
Nourishment for Needy contributes to the rural and the underprivileged community by improving their living and health standards in a variety of different ways. Some of them are,
Promoting Health Education:
The Aarokiyam project also promotes health education by conducting workshops, training programs, and seminars to provide information about health and medical facilities, insurance assistance etc. available for free or at a subsidised rate at the Government Hospitals to the community.
Providing Medical Aid:
At NFN we also provide medical aid to those in need, especially to those who cannot afford the cost of medical treatment. This includes arranging medical facilities for critical illnesses, surgeries, and long-term treatments.
Providing Counselling and Support:
The Volunteers at NFN also provide regular counselling and support to individuals suffering from chronic illnesses or other health related issues. These supports are given through one-on-one mental health counselling, building support groups, and other resources to help people cope with their health issues and lead a normal life.
Awareness Campaigns:
Under the Aarokiyam Project, NFN also conducts awareness campaigns to educate the community on various health-related topics, such as hygiene, sanitation, healthy eating, and lifestyle habits.
Conducting Health Camps:
We conduct health camps in different locations, such as rural areas, urban slums, and other underprivileged areas. The camps include medical check-ups, awareness sessions, distribution of medicines and health supplements, and other health-related services.
Importance of FREE
MEDICAL CAMPS & BLOOD DONATION CAMPS
Through the Aarokiyam Project, we prefer conducting free medical camps and blood donation camps in the rural parts of India. These camps have proven to be instrumental in providing healthcare services to people who cannot afford them.
Free Medical Camps | Blood Donation Camps |
|---|---|
Free medical camps are an essential aspect of our work as they offer people access to basic healthcare services. Our medical camps offer services such as health check-ups, free doctor consultations, and access to essential medications, all of which can be lifesaving for people who may not have access to such facilities otherwise. | Blood donation camps are another critical aspect of our work, as they provide a lifeline for people who require blood transfusions. Blood transfusions are necessary for people who have lost significant amounts of blood due to trauma, surgery, or other medical conditions. |
The medical camps also provide a platform for us to educate people about the importance of preventative healthcare, hygiene, and healthy living. We believe that prevention is better than cure, and these camps allow us to raise awareness and promote healthy living practices among the people we serve. | Donating blood is a noble act that can save lives, and we encourage people to participate in our blood donation camps to help those in need. Through our blood donation camps, we have been able to provide blood to people who require it, and we have seen first-hand how this simple act of kindness can make a world of difference to someone in need. |
We rely on the support of donors to continue our work and conduct these free medical and blood donation camps. With your help, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of people who need it the most.
